Human Sunshine

WARNING: VIOLENCE

Sun woke early in the afternoon and slipped quietly from the bed. Draven's death slumber always fascinated her but she didn't have time to watch him sleep today. She needed to try to get back to her dad's house to grab her journal and her bank book.

Draven had paid for everything for her from the moment she opened her eyes that night, but now she wanted to pull her own weight. Her grandparents put money in an account for her when she was younger and she had plenty of money to pay for her own food and clothes.

So she snuck out of the house while the vampires were sleeping and somehow managed to avoid the only other human that lived in the house. She had her driver's license but the sun felt so good on her face that she decided to walk the few blocks to the house. A decision she would later come to regret.

Stopping two doors down she waited and watched the house. Star checked the mail, came back out to sit on the porch swing then went back in. After she'd made sure that her father wasn't there, Sun ran up the steps and opened the door quickly. Slipping into the house silently she took the stairs two at a time and tiptoed into her room closing the door very quietly.

She was going through her nightstand looking for the bank book when she heard the footsteps stop at her door. Her eyes closed and she stifled a scream when she smelled the Old Spice in the air. He was here.

Her fear held her in place for just a second too long. Before she knew what was happening her body was flying across the room. Hitting the wall and sliding down it she still held the scream choked in her throat. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction of that scream even if it meant her death.

Her father's fist connected with her jaw hard and he yanked her to her feet by her hair. His cursing filled the room and Sun could only make out a few words. Vampire whore, stupid slut, these were all words she'd heard before. She wouldn't give in. She'd promised herself that she'd never let her father see her cry ever again and she planned to keep that promise.

She stood her ground as his fist connected with her nose, the blood flowing as it broke. She never made a sound. Inside she was silently screaming for Draven and she prayed that he'd be able to make it in time. For the first time in her life she cursed the sun.

Her father picked up the baseball bat she kept hidden behind her bed and swung hard. The last thought that went through her mind was to beg her Dusk to not risk himself for her.

Draven's eyes flew open. He couldn't feel her and for the first time in his existence Draven Blood was terrified. His growl shook the windows of the house and he sped for the door. The sun was setting as he stepped out the door. He opened himself fully to the pull of their bond trying to get a feel on where Sun was.

Within seconds he was standing in front of her father's home. He burst through the door and flew up the stairs. Fear gripped him when he saw the blood pooled on the floor of her bedroom. Hoping it wasn't her's he ran a finger through it and brought it his lips. A loud snarl escaped him when he tasted her.

He sensed Star before he ever saw her. Turning slowly he faced the younger girl, noticing her tears.

“Where is she?” he growled.

Star shook her head and cried harder. “I don't know,” she sobbed.

“Think hard, Star. Her life depends on it.” He paced the room, frantic and angry.

Star stood silent for what seemed a lifetime for Draven.

“Grammy's house,” she whispered. Star looked up at him, pleading, “Don't let him kill her. She's all I have.”

Draven didn't wait to hear the rest of what she had to say. He sped out of the house and tried desperately to feel her through their bond.

Sun lay in the bed of her father's truck, her heart barely beating. Every bump jarred the broken bones and bruised her even more. Her eyes opened as her body screamed in agony. Crossing the railroad tracks sent her spiraling back into the darkness. She'd lost the connection with Draven and felt completely alone, knowing that her father intended to leave her for dead or worse.

She tried desperately to open her eyes when he drug her from the truck and across the yard. She could smell the pine needles on the ground beneath her, could feel the rocks digging into her flesh. His name came out in a single breath.

“Dusk.”

Draven growled even louder, running as fast as his vampire speed would take him towards her. He could feel Sun slipping away from him, could feel her pain and it nearly brought him to his knees. He reached her grandmother's estate just in time to see her father drag her into the barn.

Speeding towards her, he caught her father and threw him across the field. Not bothering to look back he dropped to his knees and tore into his wrist, pressing it to her mouth, demanding that she drink.

He waited long enough for his blood to dull the pain enough before picking her up and speeding her back to the nest. He forced her to drink once more while silently begging her to live.

Sun pushed his wrist away, opening her eyes slowly for a second and whispering to him. “No, let me feel this. Let me be human Dusk.”

Shaking his head, he let the bloody tears fall at how strong this tiny little human girl truly was. She never ceased to surprise him with the strength she could find to survive anything. He was proud of her for never giving in or giving up.

For two weeks she lived with bruises and pain. The bones healed slowly and he suspected that her heart never would. As much as she tried to hide it, he could feel her pain as if it were his own. He never mentioned it, just absorbed it and sent her comfort.

Eventually her body healed and she was back to the Sunshine whose smile lit up his nights. But she was never truly the same after that night. It was if she realized just how fragile her life really was. How important being Sunshine was to her and how he'd risk anything to save her.

They never spoke of that night at her request. She wanted to forget it but Draven knew that she never would. This would be the memory that haunted her for eternity. The moment she realized that she wasn't immortal.

Souls Embrace

Warning: Sexual situations 18+ ONLY

She woke in his arms and once more longed for more from the days. She'd turned sixteen the week before and felt it was time to take their relationship to the next level. She knew Draven struggled with his desires. He'd remained faithful to her even though she'd told him often that she'd understand if he needed to find someone to help with his needs.

She laughed out loud at the memory of his face when she'd told him to go find a vampire to fuck. His expression was priceless. He'd stammered and stuttered for an hour about how he loved her and wouldn't betray her. She grew impatient and irritated with him and finally just let go of her anger.

“Then fuck me already Dusk! This is ridiculous. I want you and I can tell every night you want me. Do you think I'm stupid. I know what an erection feels like when it's pressed up against my back. Aren't you fucking sick and tired of not getting pussy?”

Draven stood staring at her with his mouth hanging open for a long time before bursting out laughing.

“Such pretty words coming from a little girl's mouth. Where'd you learn to talk like that Sunshine?”

“Little girl?” Sun was pissed at his referring to her as such all the time. “Does this look like a little girl to you?” she asked as her shirt fell to the floor. She stood there in her lacy bra and watched his eyes grow dark with lust as she unzipped her shorts and let them slide down her legs.

At a loss for words, Draven fought against the natural instinct to pick her up and fuck her like she wanted. It took everything he had to not take her right then. The only thing that stopped him was that he wanted it to be special, he wanted her to remember her first time with happiness.

She crossed the distance between them and pressed her body against his. Looking up at him with desire burning in her gaze, her voice barely above a whisper.

“Please Dusk. I need you. I want you.”

He put his hands on Sun's shoulders and held her at arm's length. “Not like this Sunshine.”

Pouting, Sun pushed away from him ,gathered her clothes and stormed out of the room, slamming the door behind her. She left the house knowing that he couldn't follow her for at least another twenty minutes. Her anger kept her attention and she found herself at the park without knowing how she'd gotten there. Sitting on a swing in the deserted park she let the tears she'd been fighting fall.

She cursed herself for being so stupid. She wanted Draven so badly that she'd embarrassed herself. Her heart was broken at his rejection, her body still on fire from his touch. She knew he wanted her, she could feel it. She just couldn't figure out what stopped him from taking what she offered.

Draven paced the house growling as he waited for the sun to set. His Sunshine was out there alone and hurting. He could feel her pain through their bond. He could feel how desperately she wanted to bond fully with him and how badly she wanted to be with him in every way. He wanted it just as badly but was unsure if making love to and bonding with a sixteen year old human was wise.

He knew that she wasn't like any other human he'd met. Someday he'd turn her and they'd spend eternity together but now, she was human and still considered a child in the eyes of the law. Her father could step in at anytime and have her removed from him and sent home. He feared this most of all. He wanted to protect her more than anything. But was not sleeping with her protecting her or just prolonging the inevitable. They both knew that sooner or later they'd have to take their relationship to the next level. They'd slept in the same bed for months. They'd done everything except make love. Perhaps now was the time. Perhaps he just needed to give in to both of their desires.

Instructing his nest mate Karen to set things up, Draven tore out of the house as soon as the sun set to find Sun. He would fix this and make them both happy if it meant his final death. He opened himself to the bond and let the pull lead him straight to her.

He found her still sitting on the swing, her face streaked with tears and picked her up, bringing her lips to his. He kissed her deeply, his hands roaming her body memorizing every curve. Growling into the kiss he held her tight.

“Let's go home Sunshine.”

Draven sped them home and sat her on her feet at the front door. Smiling down at her he opened the door and led her in.

Sun gasped at the table set for a romantic dinner, noticing how quiet the house was. Turning back to Draven she looked up at him in surprise.

“When did you do this? “ she asked.

He pulled her seat out and slid her up to the table. Grinning he served her dinner and sat across from her, watching her eat.

“I had Karen help, love. I needed to find you.” He let his gaze travel to her lips, his fangs extending at the thought of what was to come.

Taking a bite of her dinner Sun tilted her head and stared at Draven. “What's going on Dusk?”

Getting up he pulled her from her chair and kissed her hard. Lifting her off of her feet, he wrapped her legs around his waist and walked to the bedroom, never breaking the kiss. Opening the door he stepped inside and set her on her feet again, letting her take in the candles and roses that filled the room and covered the bed.

“Dusk?” she asked hesitantly.

“Shh, Sunshine,” he put a finger to her lips and leaned down to lick the throbbing vein in her neck.

Her hands fumbled with the buttons on his shirt until she became frustrated and ripped it open. She pressed her palms to his chest as his fangs scraped along the most sensitive spot on her neck. Her moans caused him to pull back and look at her seriously.

“Sunshine, you know that if we exchange blood once more, you're fully bonded to me. Are you sure this is what you want?”

“More than anything Dusk.” Her eyes were dark with desire, her body aching for his touch.

Draven growled low and bit gently into her neck, the warmth of her blood eliciting a groan from him. Her nails digging into his sides reminding him that she wasn't just prey. This was his Sunshine and he was determined to make this night special for her.

Retracting fangs from her he sat down on the bed and pulled her into his lap. Biting into his own wrist he offered it to her and watched as she drank his blood with vigor. She kept her eyes on his while drinking and he could feel himself growing hard.

In one swift movement he had her lying beneath him on the bed with her shirt lying on the floor. Bending down he tore her bra from her body with his fangs. Taking a taut nipple into his mouth he sucked and licked gently.

Her moans filled the room as he moved to the other breast. His hand slid down her stomach and into the waistband of her shorts and down into her panties. He stroked her clit softly at first until he felt the dampness that came with her arousal.

Crushing his lips to hers he slid a finger into her, thrusting in and out gently increasing her wetness before adding another finger. Her hips arched up to take his fingers deep as her nails scratched down his back.

Sun brought a leg up and frantically tore at the button of her shorts, pushing them down her hips and kicking them off as Draven's lips trailed cold kisses down her body. She cried out when his tongue flicked against her most intimate of spots.

Draven drove her to the brink of ecstasy over and over countless times before claiming her body fully. Their blood mixed and the bond grew stronger. Sun belonged to Draven completely for the first time.

The lovers spent the night exploring each other, learning all there was to know about the other. As the sun rose Dusk held his Sunshine in his arms. They would spend their first day bonded making love and sleeping. They shared their dreams for their future and the life they wished to live together. Little did they know that fate would soon intervene and change their future forever.

In the arms of a vampire

Four months.

Four months had passed since Draven had found the small human on that stretch of beach. Sun had become his entire world in those four short months. He often wondered how someone so tiny could have such a strong hold on his heart. Then he'd catch sight of her curled up in a chair laughing at something on the tv and remember how boring undeath seemed before her arrival in it.

He knew it was time to tell her of his feelings for her. He stood in a steamy bathroom, facing the mirror, trying to calm his nerves.

“Get it together Draven. She's just a breather,” he told his reflection, knowing she was so much more than that. “She's not going to reject you. You can see it in her eyes, she loves you just as much as you love her. This isn't something vampires stress over. Just go out there and tell the human that you're in love with her.”

He laughed at himself and finished dressing.

Sun sat on the bed with her knees pulled to her chest fighting the tears that had been threatening to fall ever since he'd said he needed to talk to her. She knew in her heart that he was going to tell her it was time for her to go home to her father. She was determined to not let him see how bad it hurt. She'd fallen in love with him over the last few months and wanted nothing more than to just stay with him forever.

She rested her chin on her knees and sighed deeply. How could he love her? She was just a silly little human who caused trouble and got in his way. She thought about begging him to turn her, but knew that being stuck as a 15 year old vampire for eternity wouldn't be the best for anyone. So tonight she'd just have to find the strength to let him go.

She was still sitting there on the bed when he turned off the bathroom light and came back to the bedroom. He smiled at her nervously and sat down beside her pulling her into his arms. Her back rested against his chest and he kissed the top of her head.

“Sun, I need to tell you something.” He felt her shift in her arms and tightened his hold on her. “Don't say anything, love. Just let me say what I have to say.”

She took a deep breath and held it, waiting for the inevitable. She simply nodded in response to him while blinking back tears.

He fought with himself silently that he needed to wait and make this special for her but he knew that he just couldn't wait another second to tell her that he loved her.

“The last four months have been amazing, love. I've enjoyed every second of being with you. But something's happened that needs to be dealt with.”

She cut him off with a quiet whisper. “I understand. You don't have to explain. I've been anticipating this day for awhile now.” She moved to pull away from him.

It hit him hard that she thought he was tossing her aside. Draven turned her to face him and wiped the tears that spilled down her cheeks away with his thumb.

“I love you Sun.” He waited for it to sink in, watching the expressions that crossed her face. Fear and sadness turned to shock and then joy. Her smile lit up his entire world in the instant it sunk in that he wasn't sending her away. It was that smile that brought about his calling her Sunshine.

Sun blinked back tears and let his words sink in. Several minutes passed by before she could speak. “You love me Dusk?”

Draven smiled at the pet name she'd called him for months now. She'd once explained to him that she called him Dusk because that was the time of day he woke and she could see him. Brushing a stray lock of hair from her eyes he smiled at her.

“Yes, Sunshine, I love you. I am in love with you and have been for some time now.”

She threw her arms around him and kissed him with so much passion he found it difficult to pull away from her. His body ached to feel her beneath him but his mind screamed that she was too young. He knew he needed to wait, to make it special for her. Their first time together in such an intimate way needed to be perfect for her.

Sun kissed him with such joy and passion that she found herself lost in the feelings he had ignited inside of her. The kiss seemed to last forever and when he finally broke it she sat in his lap breathless and blushing. She looked up at him with love shining in her eyes. Her arms remained tightly wrapped around his neck, her body pressed tight to his.

“I love you too Dusk,” she whispered. His smile flooded her with emotions she'd never known. Happiness had never been something she'd even let herself hope for and she'd found it in the arms of a vampire.

Saving Sunshine...

It had been three weeks since he realized he'd fallen in love with this human. Three weeks he'd spent protecting her with his very undead life. He'd taken her home and packed her things, bringing her back to his nest and proclaiming her his. In doing so he protected her from the others who lived in the home and it also gave him joy to think that she belonged to him in anyway at all.

Her father had put up quite the fight when Draven strolled into his home as if he owned the place. He led Sunshine up the stairs to her room and threw her things into a bag as her father ranted and raved from downstairs. He was still screaming when Star walked into the room and stared at Draven.

“Who are you?” She stood looking between him and Sun with her hands on her hips like any normal 13 year old would.

Draven smiled at her. “I'm Draven, a friend of Sun's. You must be Star.” He extended a hand hesitantly.

“Star,” she said as she stomped off without a look back.

He turned to find Sun sitting in the middle of the floor, her shoulders slumped, sobbing quietly. He sped to her and picked her up, holding her close.

“What is it love?”

She looked up at him with such sorrow that he thought for sure his dead heart would break.

“I can't leave her here. What if he touches her?” She paused, not wanting him to know the full details but knowing she had to save her sister the pain she felt. “Like he did me,” she whispered between sobs.

His growl shook the house as the meaning of her words hit him full force. He held her tighter to him more determined than ever to protect her.

“I'll kill him,” he calmly stated.

Sun cried harder, shaking in his arms. “NO, YOU CAN'T. He's my father. And they'll take you from me. Please, please don't touch him.” She begged him, her tears soaking his shirt.

He was unable to speak, so he nodded and held her trying to calm her. After several minutes of calming himself he sat her on the bed and packed the remaining items. Picking her up he carried her down the stairs and to the car.

“No matter what you hear, STAY HERE, love.” He sped back to the house before she could answer. He tore into the house and picked her father up by his throat, holding him inches off the floor so that his feet dangled.

His gasping breaths were like music to his ears and he hissed a warning to this little man that he wished dead.

“If you ever come near Sun again, I will kill you so slowly that you'll beg me for death. She is protected by me now.” Draven bared fangs and dropped Sun's father to the floor, kicking him violently. “This is your only warning. Touch either of your daughters again and there will be no where safe on this earth for you to hide.”
He caught sight of Star standing on the stairs and called out as he left the house. “I'll be back for you soon.”

Sun watched him leave the house, curious about what had happened but too afraid to ask. She took it for granted that Draven had given her father a warning and she hoped like hell it was a good one. She never wanted to come back to this house or this life. But she worried for Star being stuck here. She couldn't bare the thought of her father doing those things to Star. She'd always protected her little sister and now she wouldn't be here to do so.

Her tears flowed freely and Draven reached across the car to take her hand in his to try to calm her. She held tight to his hand as if he were her only lifeline. His heart broke once more at the thought of the pain she'd experienced at the hands of one who should've loved her unconditionally.

He carried her into the house planning to put her in the spare room until she cried harder and begged to stay with him. He could never deny her when she cried. He placed her on his bed and climbed in with her. Pulling her to him, he held her close and ran his hands through her hair trying to calm her.

She fell into a restless sleep, plagued by dreams of Star and her father. As hard as he tried he couldn't take the pain from her. He vowed to himself that night that he'd spend eternity showing her just how love is meant to feel.

The next night he woke to find her watching him once again. Grinning he wrapped an arm around her and kissed her for the first time.

Sun had never been kissed with such passion or intensity. Draven's arms kept her body pressed to him and his kiss ignited a fire that continues to burn to this very day. She was innocent in her own way. She'd never known the touch of love. Her body had been used selfishly by those who were supposed to love her. Now she'd found a love that would survive even the worst of betrayals.

Draven knew from the moment his lips touched hers that his heart belonged to her. Just as Sun knew that she loved him from the second she opened her eyes and saw his smile.

These two souls were destined to find one another. It was up to them to find a way to stay together.

Love's Beginning...

The night broke dark and clear. The storms of late evening left the world shimmering in the moonlight, as if it knew that love was about to be born anew.

He'd found her lying on a beach, near death and picked her up without a single thought otherwise. He just knew he couldn't leave her there. Her soft groans tore at his heart as he carried her back to the nest. Ignoring the curious looks from his nest mates he took this tiny, fragile human back to his room and laid her gently on his bed.

Without hesitation he tore into his own wrist and pressed it to her lips, forcing the blood into her even as she lay unconscious. He would do anything in his power to keep her alive.

He sat by her side for days, never leaving except for the short time it took to feed. During those times he left her with a member of the nest he trusted with his own undeath. He feared she'd wake and he'd not be there so he made sure his feeding was quick so he could rush home to her.

As he watched her heal, he begged silently to a God he'd never had use for to let her live. He'd just awoken for the night when her eyes opened and focused on him. He could feel the gaze and turned to face her, captivated by the beautiful blue eyes that scanned his face. He expected fear or anger for him bringing her here. He was surprised to see the smile play across her lips and light up her eyes.

Her voice was barely above a whisper when she asked his name.

“Draven,” he answered with a smile.

Her smile grew bigger and she whispered, “I'm Sun. Where am I?”

“My house, love.” He knew he needed to explain how she'd come to be here but he wasn't sure if she even remembered what led to her being on that stretch of beach.

“Did you find me?” Her voice broke slightly and he scanned her eyes to see if the fear had set in yet.

“Yes, on the beach. You were hurt and I couldn't leave you there.”

She took a deep breath and nodded. “My father was angry.”

His growl reverberated through the room and she watched him pace in silence. She could sense the anger building in him and yet she still felt safe.

He turned back to her, eyes dark with rage. “How old are you love?”

“Fif..Fifteen,” she stuttered, fear that he'd send her home overtaking her senses. She tried to get up but was held back by the pain of the broken bones her father had inflicted.

He watched her with curiosity and admiration that she had such strength and presence of mind to wish to run from him. In the same breath his heart was breaking at the very thought of never seeing her smile again. Speeding over to the bed, he sat next to her and brushed the hair from her bruised face.

“You're safe here. He can't find you and I'll never let him harm you again, love.” His smile was meant to offer comfort but to her it offered freedom.

He was her salvation, her chance to escape the horror of her life. Her body reacted to his closeness with feelings she'd never had before. Feelings she couldn't explain. All she knew was that if it were at all possible, she loved this man who'd saved her life and was offering her freedom.

Draven watched Sun's face closely as the emotions played across it. He saw the anger, the fear and the love all shine in her eyes. Eyes he found himself lost in. He pushed his desires to the side and gathered his courage to tell her what he was, hoping it wouldn't send her running.

“There is something I must tell you, love. Something that could change how you feel about my offer of protection.”

She shook her head and shifted on the bed, a moan of pain escaping her lips. “Nothing can change my gratitude.”

Draven stood and crossed the room, turning his back to her to avoid seeing the hatred in her eyes when he told her the truth.

“I'm not what you think. I'm not human.”

She waited for him to turn back towards her and after several moments of silence he remained still. “You're vampire?”

Shock took hold of him and he turned to face her. “How did you know?”

Locking eyes with him, she smiled through the pain. “My mother,” she hesitated before continuing, “left us for a vampire. I studied them even though Dad hates your kind. I wanted to know if they're real.”

He stood dead still watching her. “But how did you know I was vampire?”

“Your hands are cold.” She shrugged and looked up at him with eyes that belied her youth. This woman/child had seen things in her life no one ever should and his heart ached to teach her that love didn't need to hurt.

“I can heal you, love. In fact, I've begun the process of doing so.” He paused and crossed the room to sit next to her once more. Taking her hand in his, he spoke softly. “I fed you my blood. If I hadn't you would've surely died. If you drink more, you'll heal quickly but there are side effects.”

She listened in silence, he heart pounding in her chest at the touch of his hand. Her body craving his touch.

“If you drink from me again we'll bond more. You'll be drawn to me physically and have dreams about me. You'll heal without my blood, but it will take much longer.” He waited for her to speak. Silence filling the room for what seemed hours but in reality was mere minutes.

She thought of her options and closed her eyes before answering him. “Heal me please.”

The smile took hold before he could stop it. He couldn't stop the joy that spread through him when her words were spoken. He brought his wrist to his lips and tore into the flesh, pressing it to her lips once more.

She drank hungrily, holding tight to his arm, her eyes locked on his. She felt the pull to him as she drank. Her body, her mind, and her very soul screamed to belong to him in every way possible.

For two nights he held her close to him as his blood worked it's magic. He refused to let her feed again explaining that the third time of blood exchange bonded her fully to him and he didn't want it to be done as a healing.

For two nights she loved him silently as her body healed and became stronger. The night she woke fully healed she feared he'd send her home. She watched him sleep whispering, “I love you.”

She knew it was the only time she could tell him such a silly thing. She was far too young for him to love. She was just a child. Wiping the tears from her eyes she prayed that he'd never send her away.

As the sun set he stirred and opened his eyes to find her curled next to him. His arm wrapped around her, pulling her closer. He kissed her forehead, fighting the desire to make her his in every way. He reminded himself that she was young and innocent. He held tight to his belief that she deserved better than a vampire as her first lover.

When she opened her eyes and smiled up at him, he knew he was lost. He was in love with this woman.
